| Formula Kart Productions Announces Creation of Dan Wheldon/FWT Karting Ambassador Award |

Formula Kart Productions has created the Dan Wheldon/FWT Karting Ambassador Award. This award will be presented annually to the FWT participant who best represents karting with a fiercely competitive spirit, a helpful and positive attitude and a professional image.
FKP's Bill Wright: "I had the pleasure of meeting Dan Wheldon when he started racing FWT in 2010. Anyone who knew Dan knows he exuded the traits listed as requirements for the award. He was a fierce and aggressive competitor, but he took the time to help and encourage others, and he always maintained a professional image. He was quick with a kind word, a shake of your hand and a flash of that famous smile. What I most appreciated about Dan was he truly loved karting and intimated daily the FWT theme of "Serious Fun!". We are all better for knowing him, and I hope to continue his legacy with this annual award."
Award recipients could be chosen from not only drivers, but tuners and Team principles as well. Wright continues; “I’ve said since day one FWT is only as good as the people who race with us. Motorsport is a team sport. Although drivers are the most visible part of the equation, those of us in the sport know that the attitudes and image presented by the tuners and Team members have just as much to do with the end result, and make just as big an impression on other competitors and the public. I want to encourage all the participants to be aware of this, and I want to have the ability to recognize any individual that performs in an exemplary fashion.”
The Dan Wheldon / FWT Karting Ambassador award recipient will have their name engraved on a plaque and placed on a perpetual trophy that will be displayed at all FWT events. In addition, they will receive a framed certificate and a copy of the Michael Voorhees photo book “Dan Wheldon Lion Heart”, created by Michael and Dan for Dan’s parents and fans.
