Round four of the Gatorz Challenge of the Americas program capped off the weekend at the Phoenix Kart Racing Association (PKRA) facility in Glendale, Arizona. Sunday’s action kept the excitement going that everyone witnessed on Saturday, watching six of the seven classes see a repeat winner in the feature events. While those six drivers scored double wins, their second of the weekend did not come that easy around the Formula K Raceway circuit. Aside from the DD2 categories, the events that unfolded in Phoenix revamped the look of the championship standings, which will make the series finale in Fontana, California a thrilling end to the six-race championship chase.

The Gatorz Challenge of the Americas fired things up in Phoenix on Saturday as the first of two days of racing action went in the books at the Phoenix Kart Racing Association Formula K Raceway in Glendale, AZ. It was a picture-perfect day for weather and the challenging 3/4-mile course provided a great platform for some exciting racing that took the six-race championship series to its halfway point. The Gatorz Challenge of the Americas will make its second stop of its three month journey for the 2012 season this weekend as drivers and teams travel to the Phoenix Kart Racing Association (PKRA) Formula K Raceway in Glendale, Arizona. The facility will host the series for the fourth time in five years, and for the first time hosting rounds three and four of the six-race championship series. The international Rotax Max Challenge program welcomed over 110 drivers at the opening stop in Tucson, Arizona with the same numbers expected in Phoenix.
The PKRA course is 3/4-mile with 12 turns utilizing the ‘Full Course’ layout. The challenging circuit will be the backdrop for the halfway mark of the series championship chase with three spots to the coveted Rotax Grand Finals in Portugal later this year, one each in Senior, DD2 and Junior. Thus far, the racing has not disappointed as Tucson saw some great side-by-side action and drama unfold. Phoenix should be no different with the championship contenders established and another two days of racing on the horizon.
