| Team News: PSL Karting Heads to Tucson for Gatorz Challenge of the Americas |
| |
After a recent successful outing at the Florida Winter Tour series opener to start off the 2012 karting season, PSL branded drivers will now descend upon the Musselman Honda Circuit in Tucson, Arizona for the first round of the Gatorz Challenge of the Americas (COA). Six drivers representing Team PSL Karting will convene this weekend under the CRG West operation led by Danny Kacic as they take on the prestigious Rotax Max Challenge event.
Recent Florida Winter Tour Rotax Senior winner Fritz Leesmann will make the switch to the Rotax DD2 category for Gatorz action this weekend. With PSL the defending class champion in the class, Leesmann is sure to make an impact in the DD2 ranks. A direct transfer position to the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals is on the line, making the stakes for the PSL Atlantic pilot even higher. With his knowledge of the west coast competition, the perennial frontrunner is sure to be a threat for the overall title.
PSL Karting's Kevin King will be the lone representative in the Rotax Senior division. Coming off solid runs in 2011, including a win at the Le Monaco de Trois-Rivières, a third place finish at the Canadian National Championships as well as sixth at the Pan American finale, King will be a name to watch during Gatorz competition.
Three drivers will take on the always-competitive Rotax Junior field. CRG West's Matthew Moniz will look to improve upon his sixth place finish in last year's junior standings, and a solid Western Canadian Championship campaign in 2011 has Moniz poised for a breakout season in 2012. Joining Moniz under the CRG West brand will be BC's Jordan Redlin. Rounding out the junior line-up is PSL Karting's Austin Versteeg. After finishing third in the Mini Max standings in 2011, Versteeg will make the move to the Rotax Junior class. After a good showing in his junior debut at the Florida Winter Tour, look for Versteeg to be near the pointy end of the field in Tucson and throughout the entire Gatorz series.
Completing the Team PSL Karting contingent is CRG West's Marco Kacic. Making his Gatorz Challenge of the Americas debut, Kacic enters 2012 competition on the heels of a successful Western Canadian Championship run in 2011. The young Kacic earned third place honors in the series, and will look to carry that momentum as he takes on a new series in 2012.
"We are proud to have Danny Kacic of CRG West provide support for these young talents," noted PSL Karting's US Sales Manager Andrew Campbell. "We pride ourselves on building relationships with knowledgeable, quality people and our success is truly a testament to that."
Team PSL Karting will be trackside in 2012 at the Florida Winter Tour, Pan American Rotax Max Challenge, Eastern Canadian Karting Championship, Quebec Cup, Le Monaco de Trois-Rivieres, United States Grand Nationals, ASN Canada FIA Canadian National Karting Championships, Pan American Championship and SKUSA SuperNationals. Team PSL Karting is associated with CRG, Maxter Kart Engines, Rotax, Tillett Racing Seats, Sniper, Unipro, Douglas Wheels, Vega, MG Tires, Arai, Bell, ULV, Mir, Freem, Elf Fuels, Alfano, MaxJet Software, D.I.D.
