Vega Tire / TS Racing Signs as New WKA Road Racing Series Title Sponsor
Article by: WKA PitBoard

The WKA National Road Racing Series, which kicked off its 2012 campaign Dec. 27-30 at Daytona Int'l Speedway, has a new title sponsor.

Vega Tire / TS Racing has signed on to become the series' title sponsor for the remainder of the seven-race 2012 national tour. The series will now be known as the WKA Vega Tire / TS Racing Road Racing Series driven by Mazda.

Vega and TS replace Dunlop Tire as WKA's National Road Racing program title sponsor. WKA thanks Dunlop and Russell Karting for its years of title sponsorship for the Road Racing Series, a superb run that's lasted over a decade.

The new era for the Vega Tire / TS Racing-backed Road Racing Series features one of the tour's most impressive schedules in recent memory.

Following the series' return to the Daytona 3.56-mile high-banked road course last month, six highly anticipated events are on tap for the enduro-style karting circuit between now and the last weekend of September.

Next up for the road racers is the annual early spring trek to the Carolinas for the Johnny Jacumin Memorial March 23-25 at the challenging Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw, S.C.

The third race on the schedule has the series making its first of two consecutive trips to the Midwest in a return to Michigan's Grattan Raceway May 18-20. About a month later road racers will be back at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for a June 15-17 show.

Both Grattan and Mid-Ohio will be hosted by the Ohio-based Dart Kart Speedway Club. The Mid-Ohio event is the Road Racing Grand National in 2012.

The Virginia-based Woodbridge Kart Club (WKC) will host its first of two 2012 nationals July 28-30 with the annual midsummer show at the popular VIRginia Int'l Raceway. The VIR event was one of the best-attended Road Racing nationals in 2011, and this year will have racers trying their hand on the high-speed, 3.27-mile "Full Course" at the pristine Danville, Va., venue, which has enduro-style karters across the country extra-excited for the big VIR event.

September concludes the 2012 National Road Racing circuit with two events within a few weeks of each other. Sept. 7-9 has the series returning to Summit Point Motorsports Park in the panhandle of West Virginia, a longtime WKC karting venue that hasn't seen a WKA national since 2008.

The seven-race series will conclude Sept. 28-30 with the Southern Kart Club-hosted national at Roebling Road Raceway near Savannah, Ga., where over thirty 2012 national championships will be decided.
