| |
Road Race Champion and former Street Racing top money winner, Rick Fulks has signed on to serve as an Event Consultant/Assistant Race Director for the upcoming Texas Lone Star Grand Prix on March 17 & 18, 2012 at Fair Park in Dallas, Texas. Fulks will bring his years of experience as a top competitor and his recent race official experience to the Grand Prix working directly with Race Director Mac McMillan..
Fulks has recently gained experience as a race official as the Race Director for the popular Route 66 Sprint Series, Assistant Race Director for the Rock Island Grand Prix, Assistant Race Director for the Indy Karting Classic and will serve as an official for upcoming WKA Manufacturer’s Cup Series events.
“The Lone Star Grand Prix is going to be a one of a kind event,” said Fulks. “It will take a mix of Street Racing moxie and Road Racing savvy to fare well here. The track is going to be fast and very racy. If I wasn’t working this race, I would definitely be racing in it. It’s going to be awesome!”
Fulks - 47 years old - resides in Chatham, Illinois. Rick started racing karts at age 13. He joined his father (Reggie) and older brother (Randy), both of who are inducted into the WKA Hall of Fame. Later Fulks formed RRR Racing. As a driver Rick has won in Manufacturer’s Cup Series, PKA (pro street racing), and is a former Rock Island Grand Prix winner. Rick has also won dirt karting races, and over 100 National and Grand National Road Races. He is a former team driver for Margay and Birel USA.
Rick is a former pit crew member of the GM Goodwrench Corvette ALMS team, and several private SCCA teams. He is a current Driving Instructor for Ford Motor Co’s DSFL program, and occasional tuner for kart racing teams.
Fulks joined Route 66 Kart Racing as Race Director in 2010.
The Route 66 series grew 44% from 2009 to 2010 and is enjoyed more growth in 2011. Rick believes that the biggest reasons for Route 66 Kart Racing's growth is quality competition on quality race tracks with fair and knowledgeable officials. That is what attracted him to the Texas Lone Star Grand Prix. "It was immediately apparent that this team is interested in doing something new for karting in a large metropolitan area that will improve the public's knowledge of karting and bring more racers to our sport," Fulks said. |
