Texas Lone Star Grand Prix Announces Entries from 12 States Thus Far

Racers from 12 states have now entered to compete in the inaugural Texas Lone Star Grand Prix, Inc., (LSGP) on the streets of Fair Park in Dallas, Texas on March 17 & 18, 2012. This will be the first time since the 1984 F1 race on portions of this circuit that Fair Park will host open wheel racing.

Temperatures in Dallas in March typically range from 49 degrees to 69 degrees.

The City of Dallas will begin repaving portions of the circuit so as to make the track suitable for the inaugural race.

Texas Lone Star Grand Prix, Inc., President, James "Mac" McMillan said, "The intermediate 1.4 mile course is appealing to both sprint and road racers who are entering in about equal numbers. It is really nice to see Donnie Cluck's vision of a street race at Fair Park come to fruition." "This is an exciting time in karting. Entry numbers across the country are improving," said McMillan. He continued, "We are hosting this race to attract more people to karting and all of the early indications are that it is happening. All of the regional tracks and clubs are onboard and supporting the event. It is a really great thing to be a part of."

Based upon current entry rates it is expected that 400 to 500 entries will be received by race time. Both national champions and regional contenders are entering LSGP.

SKUSA S2 2011 National Champion Kyle Hathcox (GP) from Arizona will compete in the Stock Light Class along with SKUSA front runner and Daytona 2011 Road Race Winner Josh Lane of Illinois. Other SKUSA front runners Christian Schureman of Colorado, Conner Iseli of Texas and more than 20 others fill out what will be a really competitive field.

WKA 2011 Road Race Champion, Steven Rougeou, of Louisiana will race against IKF Road Race Champions Chris and Ryan Hegar of Oregon as well fellow Louisiana native, Anthony Harwin in the Modified/ICC class. They will be joined by a large contingent of racers from Kansas, Illinois, Minnesota and Texas.

IKF 2011 multiple Duffy winner Michael Mantel (Texas) heads up a stout class of Stock Heavy racers. SWRA Modified Honda 80 Champion, Mark Bourgeois of Texas has entered the Stock Heavy class and is sure to give Mantel a run for his money as will Bill Cox of California, Brad Johnson of Texas and a number of others.

TAG SR. has the largest number of entries so far with racers coming from Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas.

Mitch "Say Goodbye" McKie of Texas will get a chance to prove it in the KT 100 class against racers like fellow Texans, Jamie Brown and Scott & Glen Cherry. Anthony Honeywell of Oklahoma is the one that they all may be following.

The entry level "Chonda" or clone class is filling up with regional racers like 2009 IKF Duffy winner, Tommy Muth of Texas. Entries in this class have come from Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana so far.
