The 2012 edition of the Florida Winter Tour will take off this weekend in Palm Beach. Team SRA Karting will once again participate during the Rotax weekends. Seven drivers will race under the SRA Karting colours.
Team SRA will be lead by the current Rotax Max world champion Ben Cooper, who won the title last November in Al Ain, U.A.E. This was his second world title after winning the title in the senior class in 2008. He will race at the FWT in the Rotax Max class. “The Florida Winter Tour is an extremely popular racing series and attracts top level drivers, including Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals Champions. I look forward to racing there” said Cooper.
In the Rotax DD2 Masters class, professional driver Alex Tagliani, who raced in the first two rounds last year with 3 wins and a second place, will be there again. Last year he couldn’t race in the last two events because it was the first race of the IRL championship at the same time. He lost the DD2 Masters championship because of that. He is determined to complete the championship this year, if there is no conflict with his professional agenda and the FWT schedule.
Zacharie Robichon, the 2011 Rotax DD2 Québec champion will also be there in the DD2 category. Robichon only raced in one round of the FWT last year and did not compete for the championship.
Olivier Bédard, also 2011 Québec Champion, will again race in the Junior Max class. Bédard was a member of Team Canada in Al Ain and obtained the best result amongst the Canadian junior drivers with an 11th place finish in the final race. Cedrik Lupien will join him in the Junior Max class at be his first participation at the FWT.
In the Mini-Max class, Team SRA will be represented by Nataël Cantin, 2011 Karting Québec Rookie of the Year, and Samuel Lupien. Both will be at their first participation at the FWT.
