The MECHATRON-KART company - known all over the world for its F1 Paddle Shifting System “ME-SHIFTER F1” - is currently focusing on commercializing and establishing its products to the U.S. market.
“Our ME-SHIFTER F1 is a great success in Europe. Nearly all of our customers tell us that they won’t abandon the system anymore since they used it the first time. I don’t want to brag, but that’s my honest opinion too when I step behind the steering wheel of my CRG paddle-shifted kart” says Paul Gross, head engineer and CEO of MECHATRON-KART. “See, I am no professional driver, so the system helps me a lot in improving my driving style due to the fact that shifting is possible in every situation. It makes the driving style much smoother and it really helps the stamina. But I think that not only hobby drivers can profit of this technology, but also all racing drivers: Keeping both hands at the steering wheel also means keeping always the control. And that’s a huge gain of safety! F1 is already exercising this idea for years.”
MECHATRON-KART already worked out concepts to get the system legal in official races:
“We offer our customers optionally a version where the ignition interrupt is disabled by hardware, so drivers who want to use the systems in races where the rule forbids a cut of the ignition, they may use our system anyways by simply lifting the gas pedal when shifting. This is common for some karting-club-cups in Europe where the ME-SHIFTER F1 is used by nearly any driver.”
The ME-SHIFTER F1 was developed already in 2005 as patented technology and is now, almost seven years later, a well-engineered and easy applicable mechatronic system with numerous programming features. However, the U.S. market is growing in these days.

“We doubled our sales in the U.S. since 2010 and we want to multiply it again by expanding our dealer network in 2012. Kartech USA (Miami, FL), who is one of our most faithful customers since the first day, is now our first official importer where dealers can get quick supply. We would like to divide the U.S. Market to 2-3 main importers to ensure a quick service for our products. We are happy to get requests of engaged distributors.”
