With the start of the 2012 racing season upon us, Floridian drivers Alex and Mikey Hornborg are set to do battle at multiple series of competition. Running with the talent-laden and championship winning Ocala Gran Prix squad, the Hornborgs will start their season this coming weekend at the famed Palm Beach International Raceway (PBIR) during the Rotax Max Challenge weekend of the annual Formula Kart Productions Florida Winter Tour (FWT).

"I am really excited to get my 2012 season started," stated Alex, the elder of the two Hornborg boys. "Both my brother and I learned a lot in 2011 competing in the FKCS and North Florida series and look to apply those skills towards our runs at race wins and championships this season."

Consisting of three events throughout the state of Florida, the first series of competition will be the Florida Winter Tour. With drivers coming from around the world including the United States, Europe, Australia, Brazil, Mexico and Canada, the international series will feature some of the best karting competitors that the world has to offer. With invitations to champions to become a member of their respective country's team at the Rotax Grand Finals later this year, the action is sure to be fierce.

Alex will compete in the Rotax Junior category under the watchful eye of long-time karting tuner Wesley Boswell. Racing on an Ocala Gran Prix prepared Tony Kart, Alex will look to start the season and run for the championship on the right foot. While not behind the wheel of his Tony Kart, Hornborg will also see testing and race action in his Phoenix F1000 machine throughout the 2012 campaign.

With his older brother seeing action in the stout Rotax Junior field, the Marty Neri tuned Mikey Hornborg will look to follow in his brother's footsteps in the Rotax Mini Max class. With his first season of karting now under his belt, the former hockey goalie turned racer will begin his assault on the Florida Winter Tour. Having some of his best runs late in the season of 2011, where he raced wheel-to-wheel with multi-time national level race winners, Hornborg is poised and ready for 2012.

While the Florida Winter Tour will be the first series of action for the Hornborg duo, the brothers will be in action all year long. Seeing action at the Florida Karting Championship Series (FKCS), North Florida Rotax Max Challenge (NFRMC), United States Rotax Grand Nationals, testing duties and other select events throughout North America, both Alex and Mikey will have a jam-packed schedule.

Along with their racing duties, the Swedish nationality drivers are also working to raise money for The Kidney Trust (www.KidneyTrust.org). Raising and donating funds all year long to support friends and family members who suffer from kidney disease, the Hornborg family will continue to collect money at all three rounds of the Florida Winter Tour.

Both Alex and Mikey Hornborg would like to thank all of their sponsors for all their hard work and continued support: the entire crew at Ocala Gran Prix, Tony Kart, Race Tech Development, The Kidney Trust, Koene Racing as well as all of their friends and family.
