WKA Trustee Election Results Released
Article by: WKA PitBoard

WKA's trustee elections in Districts 1, 4, 7 and 10 have concluded and the Association's CPA firm, Russell & Byrd, has counted the ballots and reported the final results. Once again, an unusually high number of ballots were cast in elections in the contested districts demonstrating a high level of member interest in this election.

Here are the successful candidates:

In District 1 Steve Jacobsen returns for a second term as Trustee. Steve will be assisted by two seasoned volunteers. His 4-cycle Representative will be Steve Vermeer, an experienced 4-cycle Tech Inspector and past Chairman of the 4-Cycle Technical Committee. Dale Coffey returns as District 1 2-cycle Representative. Dale is a long time Road Race competitor.

Jayson Brown will be representing District 4 members. Jayson is currently serving as WKA's Race Director in the Speedway Dirt and Pavement Series. Supporting Jayson will be Jimmy Rivers as 4-cycle Representative. Jimmy is a past Trustee and has served several terms as 4-cycle Representative in District 4. Chip Robinson will be representing District 4's 2-cycle interests. Chip is an accomplished sports car racer and is now his son Skylar Robinson's crew chief. Skylar is a veteran in the Manufacturer's Cup and Gold Cup series and 2010 Triple Crown champion.

District 7 will be represented by Mike Everson. Mike is a familiar face in the WKA tech rooms at both 2-cycle and 4-cycle events where he has served as an SFI/WKA Level 3 Technical Inspector. Serving with Mike will be 4-cycle Representative Tyler Schurr and 2-cycle Representative George Sieracki of the Wisconsin-based Franklin Motorsports.

Andy Seesemann will represent the interests of WKA members in the fastest growing geographic area of the country, District 10. He will be aided by Doug Fleming as his 4-cycle Representative. Although Doug is best known in WKA for his work on 2-cycle engines, he is also an accomplished 4-cycle engine builder. 2-cycle Representative duties will be handled in District 10 by Jesus Vasquez. Jesus is best known as the proprietor of P1 Motorsports, a well-known west coast engine shop.

The results of the last two Trustee elections bring a better balance between 4-cycle and 2-cycle technology on the Board of Trustees. Four of the ten trustees now have significant 4-cycle experience.

On the afternoon of Friday, February 10, the new Trustees will attend an orientation session to prepare for their new assignments. At their orientation they will study the WKA Code of Regulations and learn their own responsibilities and the guidelines under which they function. They will also be introduced to WKA's committee system and their roles in reviewing and approving changes to the WKA Technical Manual. The new Trustees will be joined by the remainder of the WKA Board for a welcome dinner that evening, and the first Board meeting will be held on Saturday, February 11.

Please join the current trustees, officers and staff in congratulating and welcoming the new trustees and in thanking Bobby Moore, Tony Granata and Kevin Williams, the outgoing trustees in Districts 4, 7 and 10.
