| Team News: Southern Karting Specialists Takes On Florida Winter Tour for 2012 |
| |
With not much time for an off-season, the Southern Karting Specialists operation is back trackside to kick off the 2012 season. The first event on the schedule is the opening double weekend of the Florida Winter Tour at the Palm Beach International Raceway in West Palm Beach, Florida. The opening weekend, labeled the ‘Formula Kart’ weekend, will take place January 6-8 with the Rotax Max Challenge event taking part on January 13-15. Plant City-based SKS, the exclusive Florida dealer for the Australian-manufactured Arrow chassis brand, will take part with drivers competing in both weekends from the Cadet level to Senior.
“Since our trip to the SKUSA SuperNationals in November, we’ve spent the last several weeks preparing for the 2012 season, particularly the Florida Winter Tour,” stated Southern Karting Specialists principle Tony Tesoro. “We have a solid line-up of drivers set to battle at the opening round of the series and our Arrow chassis is equipped to take them to the top of the order in all classes. The competition level here is immense and we are ready to let Southern Karting Specialists and its drivers shine.”
The first weekend roster is filled with four TaG Cadet drivers and one TaG Junior driver. The second weekend will have six drivers with SKS/Team Arrow from Micro Max to Rotax Senior. All the TaG Cadet drivers will be racing with the Vortex Mini Rok powerplant, a product available through Southern Karting Specialist. Under the SKS/Team Arrow banner for the class will be Nicholas Brueckner, Parker Chase, Trenton Estep and Ryan Patrick Lewis.
Brueckner has experience at the Florida Winter Tour, finishing 13th in the Micro Max standings last year and set to improve on that starting next weekend. This weekend will be the Texan’s first contesting the TaG Cadet division at the Tour after racing the category at the SKUSA SuperNationals in November. Chase, also from Texas, is new to the national level of karting and to the SKS/Team Arrow operation, with plenty of teammates and experienced tuners under the tent to guide him during this weekend. Estep and Lewis complete the all-Texas driver roster for Cadet. Both were in Las Vegas with Estep recording the top finish of 26th. Each will make their first FWT TaG Cadet start this weekend and also next weekend in Mini Max.
Dominic Tesoro will be the lone TaG Junior driver for SKS/Team Arrow. Tesoro is coming off a strong performance at his SKUSA SuperNationals debut, placing 16th in the main event. This will be his first year in the TaG Junior category at the Florida Winter Tour after competing in Rotax Junior last season. Tesoro will return next weekend to contest the Rotax Junior category, alongside AJ Myers. The Florida driver was among the top-contenders last season in the Junior division, placing fifth in the championship standings with one runner-up finish to go with two top-five main event finishes. Both will look to contend for the championship this season. Rounding out the SKS/Team Arrow roster for the PBIR double-weekend is Rotax Senior driver Ethan Ringel. The two-time Team USA driver will start his second season at the Senior level. After a tough transition last season, Ringel is focused at battling for the title this year and a chance to earn a ticket to the Rotax Grand Finals with a championship.
