Team Top Kart headed south for an assault on the 2012 WKA Manufacturer’s Cup. The 2012 season opener was once again held at the famed Daytona International Speedway.
Always strong in the senior categories Top Kart drivers took home three wins and multiple podium finishes. Chris Wehrheim led every lap on his way to the TAG 1 victory while also setting fast time. Mason Chelootz competed in five classes winning Komet Heavy and finishing second in Leopard. Raquel Martinez made her Sr. debut and competed alongside Chelootz in five classes. Raquel finished both Komet finals on the podium and led a majority of the Komet Lite final. Though she did not get the results she looked for in the three TAG categories her speed was there all week. The third win for Top Kart came in the hands of John Ferris III in TAG Masters Final 2.
Garrett and Jake Johnston led the way in Juniors with Garrett winning his first national in juniors in Yamaha Jr. Lite giving Top Kart four wins for the event. Brother Jake went on to finish second in Yamaha Jr. Heavy. Ryan Raffa made his junior category debut in Daytona scoring a top ten result and consistently improving throughout the weekend. Zane Smith also made his debut in Juniors and showed speed all week, but had bad luck. Other drivers Mark Boos, Julia Boos, Andrew Borelli, Killian Keveny & Scott Ferris all showed speed in the event with Mark scoring a 4th place podium in Yamaha Light.
Kaden Harter and CRP Racing joined Top Kart for 2012 and Kaden made an impression with a fifth in Cadet final 1. In the rookie category Connor and Tyler Ferris ran at the front of the pack scoring multiple podium results and continuing to improve.
