Sargeant Motorsports of Deerfield Beach, Florida, will head to Palm Beach International Raceway this weekend located just minutes from their home base in South Florida as they take on the opening weekend of the 2012 Florida Winter Tour. The team formed in mid-2011 and was able to collect some impressive stats in a short period of time. This weekend will see the Formula Kart classes hit the track including the always-tough Vortex TaG Cadet. 11-year-old Logan Sargeant will be the lone driver under the Sargeant Motorsports tent as older brother Dalton is recovering from an injury sustained during snow covered extracurricular activities.
The 2011 FWT Vortex TaG Cadet Champion took four poles, four wins and five podiums en route to the class title in last season's stacked 33-kart field. 2011 ended on a high note for Logan as the young driver was able to put the disappointment of the 2010 SKUSA SuperNationals behind him and focus on taking the win in his second visit to the big show in Las Vegas. Dalton, who will begin some light testing early next week, wrapped up his rookie season of FWT Formula Kart TaG Junior in fifth in the final standings.
"I am really looking forward to getting 2012 underway. It's been a long off season," comments Logan. "We ended last year with the TaG Cadet win at the SuperNationals. I am looking for more of that success this season. I hope to begin by defending my TaG Cadet title from last year."
The Sargeant Motorsports crew will return the following weekend for the opening of the FWT Rotax Max classes which will see Logan take on the Mini Max class and possibly see Dalton make his first start in of year in his sophomore season in Junior Max. The 2011 National Rotax Junior Max Champion is looking to improve on his first season of Junior Max while younger brother Logan is definitely one to watch as he goes after the Mini Max title.
