Karting veteran Alan Rudolph announced in a release distributed yesterday that he will contest the 2012 Florida Winter Tour. Following a return to the driver’s seat in early December at the Red Bull Kart Fight at PRI, the Bondurant SuperKart School General Manager and Lead Instructor once again got the itch to compete. Teaming up with the PSL Atlantic operation, Rudolph is set to battle in the DD2 Masters class during the Rotax Max Challenge weekends in hopes of claiming the championship and the chance to travel to the prestigious Rotax Grand Finals in 2012 as part of Team USA.

"After getting back behind the wheel a few weeks ago, I really want to be part of Team USA and challenge for a world championship," expressed Rudolph in the release. "Racing is such a big part of who I am, and after being away from it for a couple years I can't wait to hit the track. The United States has yet to claim a world championship in Rotax competition, and I think that I could have a good chance to run at the front of a truly international field if I can garner an invitation."

Rudolph is a veteran in the sport, beginning as a young karter at the age of seven, working his way up the ranks. His karting CV is a diverse one, competing and winning in all different forms of the sport - dirt, oval, sprint, and road racing. Most famous for his street-racing record, Rudolph is a five-time King of the Streets winner at the Rock Island Grand Prix. The ‘ageless’ Rudolph has experience in all different types of racing cars as well, including open-wheel, prototype, and stock cars, although karting is his long-time passion.

"I have been at the Florida Winter Tour the past couple years as a coach, as well as a tuner, and the competition level is second to none. There are a lot of different countries represented in this international series and I look forward to putting my name in the hat. The ultimate goal is to claim the DD2 Masters championship for myself and PSL Atlantic and then try and represent Team USA with a win in Portugal later next year."

Rudolph will join a host of other drivers competing for the PSL Atlantic team in Florida, as Fritz Leesmann and Nick Rivellini will do battle in Rotax Senior. Also competing in select events will be Nathan Kelly. Joining forces with Team WRS, Whisler Racing Services and AJ Whisler, both Rudolph and the entire PSL Atlantic are ready to hit the ground running in January.
