| Industry News: MFG Closes SwedeTech Deal |
| |
Superstar Alex King has had his wishes and demands fulfilled after MFG announced this morning that it has entered into an agreement – late last night – with SwedeTech Racing Engines. The California based premier engine builder is set to become the exclusive engine supplier to the Brazilian pilot. The most anticipated ‘partnership’ in the last couple of years was further intensified in recent weeks after King paid a visit to SwedeTech at the SKUSA SuperNationals XV in Las Vegas. The #1 factory pilot for MFG is reported to be thrilled with the latest announcement as he commented on his personal Facebook wall.
“I have been flirting with the idea of having a SwedeTech engine since 2008 and I have made no secrets in regards to my admiration for their quality of work and for my personal desire to be powered by SwedeTech. I finally have the most powerful and technological advanced Spec Honda engine in the world – engines that have dominated the Spec Honda program at SKUSA SuperNationals – so I am certain that I will achieve my racing goals.”
Ambitious goals have been set by both MFG and King – Top 5 in the point standings in the 2012 SKUSA ProTour and Title Contender in the 2013 SKUSA ProTour – but King is under no illusions.
“I am under no illusions. This is my very first ProTour season and the guys there are not only very competitive and talented, they have been doing this for years! I have a lot of work ahead of me. But again, I am confident because I have the best engine builder supplying me with the best engine in the business. In my view, SwedeTech is the authority in engine development.”
The German team also confirmed a contract extension with King until the end of the 2014 season when the Brazilian is set to retire completely from racing at age 41 – this extension is consistent with the SwedeTech engine supply deal. MFG further announced its official name for the 2012 racing season that best describes the team’s racing plans for the year – MFG KOSMIC GP ProTour RACING TEAM. The team will continue its relationship and attain KOSMIC chassis (and related parts) from J3Competition (www.j3competition), the exclusive North American importer of KOSMIC chassis.
SwedeTech is expected to deliver the new engine directly to MFG Technology Centre, the unit headed by German ace Michael Goebel and responsible for all technical aspects of MFG KOSMIC GP ProTour RACING TEAM. SwedeTech Racing Engines (www.shopswedetech.com) based in Wilton, California has a proven track record and dominating performance, including but not limited to, the Spec Honda program at SKUSA SuperNationals in 2010 and 2011. MFG Technology Centre is the ultimate entity in technical development, support and management for racing teams committed to premier sanctioned events – SKUSA (www.superkartsusa.com). |
