Michiana Raceway Park to Host 2012 Rotax Max Challenge United States Grand Nationals

In a release sent out from GoRotax.com, the date and location for the 2012 Rotax Max Challenge United States Grand Nationals and plans for the Pan American Challenge have been confirmed. Michiana Raceway Park in South Bend, Indiana will host the 2012 Grand Nationals on August 7-11 while the Pan Am will be condensed to one event, set for September 20-23 with a location to be determined.

In the statement released by Rotax Max Challenge United States administrator Josh Smith, the structure for the 2012 program will be similar as in the past. Drivers will be required to have a minimum of four ‘punches’ to participate in the 2012 Grand Nationals, with punches available at participating RMCUS programs only. The event will award first, second and third place drivers in the Senior, DD2, DD2 Masters and Junior with a ticket to the 2012 Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals - announced to be held at Kartodromo Algarve in Portimao, Portugal from November 27-December 1. The South Bend facility hosted the 2005 edition of the Grand Nationals.

The 2012 Pan American Rotax Max Challenge structure will be based on a stand-alone, one-race international championship event that will require six ‘punches’ to compete. The ‘punch’ races include Florida Winter Tour, Gatorz Challenge of the Americas, the United States Grand Nationals, and any official Rotax Max Challenge (United States or International). The champions in Senior, DD2, DD2 Master and Junior will each receive a ticket to the 2012 Rotax Grand Finals. The Championship Event will take place on September 20-23, 2012 at a Western United States location to be determined in the near future. Bill Wright will continue as administrator of the Pan American Challenge program and promoter of the Championship Event.
