| Texas Lone Star Grand Prix Confirms Motul as Official Oil Sponsor |
| |
The Texas Lone Star Grand Prix announces that Motul will be the official oil sponsor of the inaugural event to be held on the streets of Fair Park on March 17-18, 2012. "Motul's commitment to quality and its support of motorsport make it a perfect partner for The Texas Lone Star Grand Prix," said one of the race promoters, Donnie Cluck. Cluck is well attuned to the stresses put on 2 cycle engines having raced motorcycles all over the United States and in Europe before turning his efforts to karting. Cluck also promoted a number of motorcycle races in the Dallas area with great success.
The Texas Lone Star Grand Prix will be run on portions of the course used by F1 cars in the 1984 Dallas Grand Prix and will be one of the fastest kart street races in the United States. The course combines high speed straights and turns as well as tight technical turns and short shoots. Some have commented that the course combines the best of kart sprint racing and road racing. Cluck says that was the intent when the course was designed. "We wanted to attract the top sprint and road racers from across the country. Given what we have seen from early entries the strategy is working. In addition to commitments from drivers all over North America drivers from Great Britain and Australia are coming to race."
Another interesting aspect of this race is that all of the Texas kart tracks and clubs are supporting the event. Given the location of the event and the historic significance of the course these kart organizations have agreed to work together to promote The Texas Lone Star Grand Prix as a way to showcase karting to the public in a major population center. Karts racing past The Cotton Bowl just as the F1 cars did is exciting to the racers and spectators. Few kart racers have the opportunity to race the same course that Ayrton Senna, ,Eddie Cheever, Alain Prost, Niki Lauda, Nigel Mansell and race winner, Keke Rosberg competed on. The long wide straight on Admiral Nimitz drive is where that will happen in March in Texas.
