| WKA Releases Important Tech Updates |
| Article by: WKA PitBoard |
The first round of updates to the 2012 Technical Manual will be posted on Thursday, December 1. Here are four changes that apply to the WKA National Road Racing Series; a couple of which also apply to the WKA Manufacturer's Cup Series.
First, Page 120 of the 2012 Tech Manual, Section 554 RLV Spec Mufflers states that, "End caps may be either welded on or screw attached until December 20, 2011 when welded on end caps are required." This rule has been deleted. SSX Mufflers with screw attached end caps are legal, and there is no longer a plan to go to welded on end caps. This applies to Manufacturer's Cup and the Road Racing Series.
Second, the ARC Comer and PRD RK 100 engines were accidentally omitted from the Yamaha Sportsman Lite, Medium and Heavy classes. These engines running with the RLV SSX muffler are legal in these classes.
Next, the Parilla X-30 TaG engine is an approved engine for Manufacturer's Cup TaG Final 1 and 2 and TaG Masters Final 1 and 2, and the Road Racing Series' TaG Final 1 and 2. The Tech Manual states the X-30 is approved for Man Cup TaG, but it was not included in engine descriptions for Man Cup TaG Masters and Road Race TaG. This was an oversight; the X-30 is an approved engine for the aforementioned divisions.
Minimum weights for the X-30 are as follows: Manufacturer's Cup TaG: 375 lbs.; Manufacturer's Cup TaG Masters: 395 lbs.; Road Racing TaG: 370 lbs.
Last, sprint kart drivers in the NRRS who wish to take advantage of the new rule allowing head rests should be aware that the head rests must be attached to the seat. They may not be attached to any part of the kart including the frame, bumper or bodywork.
Watch for the Tech Updates to be posted this Thursday for further late changes. |
