| Mazda Road to Indy Inaugural Scouting Combine Underway in Florida |
| |
The inaugural Mazda Road to Indy Scouting Combine is currently underway (November 28-29) at Andersen RacePark in Palmetto, Fla. The scouting combine is a talent-driven program that serves as a stepping stone for grassroots motorsports drivers with aspirations to compete in the IZOD IndyCar Series and Indianapolis 500.
The combine features distinguished young racers vying for a chance to compete in the two Cooper Tires Presents the USF2000 National Championship Powered by Mazda races during the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg in March 2012. All the participants receive on-track practice, business development training, and the opportunity to conduct mock media interviews. An expert panel of judges will select a winner based on on-track and off-track performance.
Drivers participating include Jacob Knueven (TaG World Championship), Luke Waller (Heartland Sprint Series), Joe Ruch (SKUSA Central States Challenge), Bobby Kelley (International Karting Federation), Eric Filgueiras (Florida Karting Championship Series), Camden Geise (Cal State Karting Series), Taylor Ferns (United States Auto Club), Nick Neri (Rotax), Ryan Stewart (World Karting Association) and Zach Rubichon (Eastern Canada Karting Championship).
The winner of the first Mazda Road to Indy Scouting Combine will be announced on Wednesday (November 30). |
