Russell Karting Specialties Announces Dunlop and IAME Contingency Programs

Russell Karting Specialties has a long history of supporting events and series across the country with sponsorship, certificates and more. The support continues as the notable company has announced two contingency programs for the upcoming Rock Island Grand Prix and the Superkarts! USA SuperNationals events.

For the Labor Day weekend street race in the Quad Cities along the Mississippi River on the border of Iowa and Illinois, Russell Karting will supply Dunlop Racing Tire contingency program. On September 3-4, racers from all over the country will travel to the world’s largest street race as Russell Karting and Dunlop will be awarding those who score the coveted ‘Rock’ trophy with some extra incentive. Any driver who wins a class at the Rock Island Grand Prix racing on Dunlop tires will win a free set of Dunlop tires. In order to qualify, the kart must have raced with Dunlop tires and be fitted with Dunlop stickers on the front fairing and both sides of the kart.

“The Rock Island Grand Prix is an exciting event that mixes together a number of categories into one event,” stated Jim Russell Jr. of Russell Karting Specialties. “With the open tire choice for the majority of classes at the event, drivers can select any of the Dunlop tire compounds that will suit their needs to get them to the front of the field. For the TAG USA classes, the spec Dunlop DDM tire provides racers with the best option. Should rain hit the event, the Dunlop W11 and W12 tires will provide optimal grip no matter the class.”

The biggest event of the season takes place on November 16-20 as Superkarts! USA hosts the 15th edition of the SuperNationals outside the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The event serves as the final stop of the organizations Pro Tour series, coupled with an influx of international competition making the journey from all over the world. To lift up the competition stakes, Russell Karting and IAME kart engines have set up a contingency purse in four categories. To qualify, a driver must utilize an IAME Parilla engine and finish in the top-three of their respective class. The cash prize breakdown is as follows:

TaG Senior: 1st place - $2500, 2nd place - $1000, 3rd place - $500
TaG Master: 1st place - $2500, 2nd place - $1000, 3rd place - $500
KF2: 1st place - $1000, 2nd place - $500, 3rd place - $250
KZ2: 1st place - $1000, 2nd place - $500, 3rd place - $250

“Superkarts! USA and IAME have been working together since the introduction of the Touch and Go engines and it’s been a successful partnership,” continued Russell. “In the categories where drivers have multiple options for an engine, we want to reward those who perform well with IAME power. While it would be a lot of money to hand out, we would love to see and are counting on IAME engines to sweep the top-three positions in all four categories.”
