Two Jakes, Jake Klarich and Jake Spencer, shared the spoils with Tyler Greenbury in round four of the CIK Stars of Karting Series presented by Castrol EDGE at Newcastle, NSW today.
In front of a large crowd at the Mount Sugarloaf circuit, it was the younger of the two Jakes Jake Klarich who set the scene by securing his second round win of the year in the Pro Junior (KF3) ranks.
After following Queenslander (Forest lake, QLD) Brock Plumb across the line in the opening final, Klarich drove away from the field in the 25-lap main event to claim the win, and the New South Wales State Championship.
I had a drama in qualifying with a deflating tyre, which meant that I only qualified 18th and had a lot of work ahead of me, so to get this win is amazing, said Klarich.
What makes this win even more special is the fact that I beat two of the best guys in the country (Pierce Lehane and Joseph Mawson) on what could be considered as one of their home tracks.
Courtesy of his victory, Klarich is now third in the points standings four points adrift of Joseph Mawson (Hinchinbrook, NSW). CRG driver Pierce Lehane, who finished fifth today, remains as the championship leader.
Plumb crossed the line second today, however, he was relegated back one spot for a racing incident handing the runner-up placing to Mawson.
Reigning Pro Light (KF1) Champion Cian Fothergill (Gladstone, QLD) was the dominant driver in the Pro Light (KF1) ranks. The Tracksa-backed Kosmic driver set the pace from the start of the weekend and appeared on track for a clean sweep after winning all three heat races and the opening 25-lap final
Unfortunately, he endured a mechanical issue off the start line in the main event which dropped him to the rear of the field.

With Fothergill and points leader Jake Spencer (Wantirna South, Vic), who failed to finish the opening final, carving their way through the pack, Damien Radosevic (Gwandalan, NSW) opened up a commanding lead.
Unfortunately for the Radosevic, who crossed the line first, his timing transponder fell off and he was excluded from the results handing Spencer his second win of 2011.
This was a very lucky one, there is no doubt about that, said Spencer.
While I feel disappointed for Damien, it is good to get the win and maintain the lead in the championship.
Fothergill recovered from the issue at the start of the race to cross the line behind Spencer and in the process claimed the New South Wales State Championship for the category.
Third place went to Gillard driver Daniel Rochford.
In the Pro Gearbox (KZ2) ranks it was Tyler Greenbury (Toowoomba, QLD) who broke through to claim his maiden round victory.
The Intrepid pilot took the win in the star-studded field ahead of defending series champion Matthew Wall (Sunbury, Vic) and rising star Macauley Jones (Albury, NSW). Greenburys win moved him into second place in the standings.
The Bolt Pro Intrepid was really working well this weekend, its a great feeling to have finally broken through to win a round in such a competitive field, said Greenbury.
This championship is super tight, every place really matters now and hopefully we can keep this speed going as we head to the final round.

Eighth place in the second final was enough to move Kel Treseder (Bundaberg, QLD) into the Championship lead four points clear of Greenbury. The top seven drivers in the standings are covered by a mere ten points.
In the Yamaha Challenge it was Jaie Robson who got the better of Aaron Borg in the Clubman ranks with Brett Robinson rounding out the podium. Series leader Lydon Dodge had a weekend that hed rather forget and as a result he saw his commanding points lead diminish from 50 to 8 points.
Stefan Stankovic won Junior National over Andrew Kahl and James Duckworth to pass James Abela in the points standings.
Jayden Ojeda proved too good on his way to victory in the Rookies category ahead of Joshua Car and Isaac Vaccarella.
The final round of the 2011 Series is scheduled to be held at Sydneys Eastern Creek International Karting Raceway on September 17/18.
