WSK Euro Series - Zuera Preview

The first WSK series for the year 2011 is coming to an end. The WSK Euro Series is crossing the line at the Spanish circuit in Zuera, nearby Saragossa, with a fourth round crowning the champions in the classes KF1, KZ1, KZ2 and KF3, on July 31st. Once again, WSK international calendar has travelled across the most beautiful places and the most prestigious circuits. High technology which is a basic feature of the protagonists of the WSK series combines well with the excellent level of the facilities hosting the events.

TAKE-OFF IN SARNO
With spring drawing near, the WSK Euro Series 2011 kicked off at the Circuito Internazionale Napoli in Sarno, Italy. Nearby the Amalfi coast, on the Campanian racetrack, which is 1699 metres long, the season’s debut was covered live on Rai Sport.

HEADING FOR THE ATLANTIC IN PORTIMAO
The Circuito do Algarve in Portimao, Portugal is particularly interesting from a technical point of view and it was just there on the European Atlantic coast that the second European WSK round took place with 213 participants. Altimetric swings give personality to a 1532-metre long karting circuit that is adjacent to one of the most amazing racetrack for international motosport.

MEDITERRANEAN LANDING ON LA CONCA
The third round was run last month in Muro Leccese, Lecce. In Italy, along Otranto coast, the WSK circus met again at La Conca International Circuit, a racetrack long 1250 metres that is famous for hosting the most important international events. Mediterranean summer colours were the setting for the most exciting races of the year.

PHOTO FINISH IN ZUERA
The coming July 31, such a competitive 2011 is going to find a fitting location in Spain to end the season. The 1700-metre long track in Zuera, nearby Saragossa, will be the setting for an eagerly awaited KF1challenge between the current leader, Dutch champion Nick De Vries (Zanardi-Parilla-Vega) and the rising star English Alex Albon (Intrepid-TM-Vega). There will be a hot final rush with a wide range of options seeing that there are still 88 points to get between practice and races and considering that Albon has a 64-length gap from De Vries. In KZ1 instead, the gap between the leader Belgian Rick Dreezen (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega) and Dutch Bas Lammers (Intrepid-TM-Vega) is narrower, only 19 points. Nevertheless, the four drivers below in the ranking have still chance of winning in the event in Zuera: they are Thonon (CRG-Maxter-Vega), Ardigò (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega), Iglesias (Intrepid- TM-Vega) and Piccioni (Parolin-TM-Vega). In KZ2, Sienese Mirko Torsellini (CRG-Maxter-Vega) will be faced with the demanding task of recovering his 43-point gap from the leader Swedish Joel Johansson (Energy-TM-Vega). However, the driver in third place, Dutch Ryan Van De Burgt (Maddox-Parilla-Vega) is still in the running. The situation is open-ended in KF2 where all the first 15 drivers can still shoot for the crowning title. Stefano Cucco from Biella, Italy, withstands at the top above Russian Egor Orudzhev (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega). In KF3, Dutch Max Verstappen (CRG-Parilla-Vega) with a a 29-point lead over Norwegian Dennis Olsen (Energy-TM-Vega) goes for victory. But both French Esteban Ocon (FA Kart-Vortex-Vega), English Callan Okeeffe (FA Kart-Vortex-Vega) and his countryman George Russel (Intrepid-TM-Vega) can still compete for the title.
