A new program, Race Manager, has been developed that can be a time saver for race promoters in their administration efforts. New on the market, this product looks promising and interfaces with the AMB ChronX Timing & Scoring system. We've reviewd all screen shots and the program appears to be professionaly written, easy to administer and has a nice lay out for its menus. What is Race Manager?
Race Manager is a software product from LanSharks designed specifically to manage motorsports memberships, clubs, races, dues and events. This easy to use software package improves the way organizations manage their events and maintain control of all the details specific to their members and karts.
Here's what it does:
• Race Manager allows unlimited records for each member, kart, telephone, event, etc. Multiple telephone numbers, email addresses, karts and financial transactions are easily managed.
• Maintains a complete and accurate transaction history for the membership with dates, comments and amounts. It prints reports and invoices as needed.
• Prints membership cards at the touch of a button. The formatting is already done and the instructions easy to follow.
• For groups that need to keep track of a participant's age, racing license or medical card, settings are provided to manage this specialized section of the membership. Race Manager even lets users customize these settings.
• Drag and drop members into any race group. Groups can be reassigned from one event to another and Race Manager also supports classes.
• Segregate any member, based on any condition, or group any members together by tagging. This can be all the members contacted today, or all members requiring an update letter. Then it’s easy to run reports, invoices or other functions for ONLY this tagged group.
• Race Manager tracks suspended members, and offers the ability to monitor either by number of days (e.g. ninety-day suspension) or by expiration (e.g. suspended until the end of the season).
• Prints mailing labels for the entire membership or customized subgroups. Sort, search and tag the members. For example, select all event workers, new members, anyone due a rulebook.
• Create and print form letters to the entire membership or as with labels, select customized groups. Race Manager even remembers which members were tagged when you exit the program.
Why is it necessary?
Planning for and conducting a motor racing event is extremely time consuming and repetitious. Race Manager reduces the hours spent sending out entries, eliminates redundant labor, speeds up mailings and helps the staff get more out of their time.
What else does it do?
• It holds all the member information, such as multiple phones, karts, shirt size, Email information, annual tech, and dates for membership, medical, licensing and suspensions.
• Prints 22 office and financial reports, or labels.
• Prints 19 event and driver related reports, or labels.
• Creates subgroups of members and then prints reports, mailing labels and form letters for those subgroups (send an acceptance to all drivers, send a schedule to all workers, send passes and instructions to all media).
• Prints labels for tech, rookies, mailings, envelopes, magazines and more.
• Categorizes and maintains over 14 types of financial transactions and keeps a running balance for each member.
• The interface for the AMB ChronX Timing & Scoring system is included at no charge.
What are the add-on modules?
Dialer - The Dialer allows you to call members in Race Manager using your computer's (existing) modem. You connect a simple telephone or a Plantronics headset to your modem, Race Manager makes the call through the modem and you pick up the handset to talk.
E-Mail Engine – Automatically e-mail/fax to all members or entrants or any subset you choose. It’s easy to contact 400 people quickly with this feature. You can prepare your e-mail off-line and then send them when you connect. Supports Internet mail and all major mail formats, as well as BCC (blind CC) so others do not see the whole e-mail list.
Import/Export – Import or export data in different formats, to and from other programs. Load the databases initially or export member data for your sponsors and advertisers in a Microsoft Excel chart.
Laptop Transfer – If you normally work on an office computer but want to take the laptop computer to the racetrack, this feature will compress the databases and transfer them. At the end of the weekend, restore them back and your office computer is updated with the changes from the racetrack.
PDF Option – this allows you to create an Adobe PDF for most reports in Race Manager. Adobe PDF is a universal file format that preserves all of the fonts, formatting, colors, and graphics of any source document, regardless of the application and platform used to create it. Adobe PDF files are compact and can be emailed, shared, viewed, navigated, and printed exactly as intended.
Query Wizard – A plain English query to perform custom searches using the fields in the database, using qualifiers like “greater than”, “contains” and “begins with”. For example, you can find all the Shifter Karts, find all rookies, find everyone under 18 years old, etc. You can even find all the 17 year old rookies with Shifter Karts! Queries can be saved AND joined to one another.
Report Wizard - Use a simple interface and quickly create (and save) an unlimited number of report layouts which may be filled with data at any time. Optionally specify totals or averages for numeric columns. Select from an existing sort or create last minute sorting on up to three levels. Automatically adjusts the report to landscape mode.
Spreadsheet Wizard – Use a simple interface and quickly create (and save) an unlimited number of spreadsheet layouts which may be filled with data at any time. Select from an existing sort or create last minute sorting on up to three levels, and even publish web documents (in lieu of spreadsheet files) using the common spreadsheet layouts.

Licensing: Race Manager will operate for 45 days on a temporary, self-generated license code. If a permanent license is not issued by LanSharks before the 45th day, Race Manager will shut off without harming any data. A permanent license, which can be issued at any time, will change Race Manager from the temporary unregistered mode to the permanent licensed mode. You can use the Race Manager download or the enclosed Race Manager CD to install the software on as many systems as you wish.
