EKN Constructors’ Championship - April 6, 2011

The 2011 karting season is finally underway as the calendar has turned over to the month of April and the summer days are just around the corner. For the karting industry, the season began in January with the popular ‘winter’ programs taking part over the past three months - Challenge of the Americas and Florida Winter Tour. The WKA Manufacturer’s Cup Series already has two races in the books while the Superkarts! USA Pro Tour and Rotax Pan American Challenge is gearing up for their start in April. To set the stage for the start of the year, eKartingNews.com is proud to release the first edition of the 2011 Constructors’ Championship standings.

Including the results from WKA, CoA, and FWT, the 2010 champion Arrow currently holds the top spot after the first three months. Of the eight events included in the first calculations, Arrow held the top score in three of those events and was among the top-three chassis brands earning points in all but one event. The bulk of Arrow’s points have come from their performances at the WKA Manufacturer’s Cup Series events - with a strong presence from Senior to Junior in all categories. Arrow currently leads the series Manufacturers Championship Trophy standings - measuring the number of wins each brand earns on the season - at 13.

Tony Kart sits second to begin 2011 with three high scores to their credit. Scoring the highest amount at the first and last Florida Winter Tour weekends and the opening Challenge of the Americas event, Tony Kart finds itself in the early hunt for the 2011 title. CRG is the only other brand to earn high honors - aside from Arrow and Tony Kart - this far into the season. CRG was best at the second weekends for the CoA and the FWT. Birel - like the top three - has garnered points in all eight events thus far into the season and sits fourth in the order. They trail Arrow in the WKA Trophy standings by just one with 12 wins on the season in that series. Intrepid completes the top-five - riding off strong results in Florida.

Despite the small number of karts at the track, the Kosmic brand is producing strong results on-track and currently sits sixth in the standings. Seventh through 10th include chassis brands that earned points from the two WKA events - Top Kart, Merlin, PCR, and Margay.
