| |
The EKN 2011 Chassis Preview Editorial Series was designed during this off-season to provide the karting community with a unique opportunity to become informed of the most popular and successful brands available in the North American market, all from the warmth of their home computers or mobile devices. The karting industry is by no means short on options regarding chassis selection, and our goal with this article series is to help narrow down your choices while educating the community on what exactly is offered by each manufacturer and its United States or Canadian importer/distributor.

The Cadet LS is a two-curved 28mm diameter tube frame, a feature which gives extra freedom and sliding capacity to the chassis. The PCR IDR brake system utilizes the full size PCR master cylinder while the rear caliper is the same as the front system on shifter chassis. The system uses a lighter disc than the full size chassis models. The wheelbase is adjustable for different size tracks. The PCR Sportsman is a three-curved 28mm diameter tube chassis with similar dimensions to the Cadet model with the same frame design as the full size MXK8. This chassis was made specifically for the American kart market. Made with the minimum wheelbase of 1020mm, the Sportsman has the adjustability to run at 1030mm. The kart comes with black KG bodywork and the new PCR Gold graphics for 2011. It’s another PCR chassis on the rise in the very competitive WKA Manufacturer’s Cup Series.

The PCR LS30 is a full size 30mm chassis with an adjustable wheelbase, manufactured specifically for the 100cc engines in the United States market. Comments:
The MXK8 has dominated the TaG divisions since it was introduced to the U.S. market in late 2009. The MXK8 is a homologated three-curved 30mm diameter tube chassis with a 32mm front tube, used by PCR factory driver Simo Puhakka to wins in the KF2 in the United States and Europe. Robert Bujdoso claimed two WKA Manufacturer’s Cup Series championships in 2010. With the new Bridgestone YLB tires, the MXK8 works well with the compound, the new WKA TaG homologated tire.

Same design as the MXK8, the shifter version can be used for medium to hard compound tires being used in the United States. Factory PCR driver Simo Puhakka used the chassis in the 2010 SKUSA SuperNationals, setting fast time of the weekend and claiming the pole position in qualifying in SuperPro. The same chassis has been used by PCR factor pilot Manuel Renacdie to several European victories in 2010. |
