The EKN 2011 Chassis Preview Editorial Series was designed during this off-season to provide the karting community with a unique opportunity to become informed of the most popular and successful brands available in the North American market, all from the warmth of their home computers or mobile devices. The karting industry is by no means short on options regarding chassis selection, and our goal with this article series is to help narrow down your choices while educating the community on what exactly is offered by each manufacturer and its United States or Canadian importer/distributor.

A branch of the OTK product family, the Kosmic Kart has established itself as one of the top chassis in the world. Since 2005, J3 Competition has been the exclusive United States distributor for the Kosmic Kart brand. In Europe the brand has grown to predominance with its recent KF2 and Super KF WSK World Cup Championships triumphs. The Kosmic brand has also found success here in North America with a national championship for the past three seasons; 2010 Rotax Junior Grand Nationals, double win at the 2010 SKUSA SuperNationals, 2009 KF3 Championship Karting International title, 2008 TaG Senior Stars of Karting national championship. Comments:
Arguably the mainstay of the Kosmic chassis line, the Mercury is most the popular model amongst the forerunners. The Mercury has taken countless wins and national championships in the junior categories with such drivers as Tristan DeGrand, Alessandra Madrigal, and Andrew Palmer. The senior ranks have seen as much success with the current highlight of EKN number one TaG ranked driver Daniel Formal. On the world scene, Kosmic broke out with the double championship gained by Super KF pilot Armand Convers in the WSK series along with the historic podium finish at the United States WSK World Series event by Tristan DeGrand. The Mercury is standard with fully adjustable uni-ball eccentrics; one piece bear cassette flanges, and ease of tuning. The Mercury model can also be fitted with the OTK BS5 braking system to accommodate KZ and Stock Moto applications along with DD2 as well.

Similar to its sibling the Mercury, the Lynx offers a more rigid option for different applications. Coupled with high quality magnesium components, the Lynx took home top honors at the 2010 Super Nationals in TaG Masters. In 2011, the Lynx is fresh off a dominating win in the FWT Rotax Masters class as well. The Lynx is standard with fully adjustable uni-ball eccentrics; one piece bear cassette flanges, and ease of tuning. The Lynx model can also be fitted with the OTK BS5 braking system to accommodate KZ and Stock Moto along with DD2 applications as well.

The Nordix is based off the winning Rookie model Kosmic Kart. The Nordix offers owners tuning choices with rear ride height, Ackerman, and full eccentric adjustability. Starting in 2011 the Nordix is equipped standard with M4 bodywork and a stylish graphics package. The Nordix is aimed to compete in the junior sportsman categories as well as in junior categories for smaller drivers.

The Kosmic Rookie first took home top honors with the 2008 FWT Cadet Championship. Since then, the chassis has been refined to offer better performance and efficiencies such as, D. 22 x 8mm uni-ball eccentrics, BST stub axles, and a new front steering support. The chassis value has recently been proven by young Patricio O’Ward who took fourth place at the Mini RoK Championship in South Garda and then backed up with the prestigious 2010 Super Nationals victory.
