Success, professionalism, and team management. These three elements help define the characteristics of our Team of the Year category. For teams to be successful, they must hold their standards to the utmost level and have the correct personnel in place to guide them in the right direction. While the 2010 season saw a number of operations excel throughout the season, the BTK Motorsports/KartSport North America squad stood out among this elite group and, as result, they have earned the honor of the eKartingNews.com Team of the Year award.
The 2010 season was a strong one for those flying the Arrow colors, the chassis brand from Down Under. Terrence McCall and his BTK Motorsports have been behind the Arrow brand in the United States since 2005, always with the goal of expanding the Australian-manufactured brand all across the country. Thanks to the efforts of McCall and team manager Eric Jones, the Arrow brand brought home its share of titles this past season.
BTK Motorsports/Arrow Racing Karts were competitive at many of the big events for 2010. Nowhere was that more evident then in the WKA Manufacturer’s Cup Series. In total, Arrow claimed four series championships - three by 2010 EKN Rising Star Sam Beasley and one by veteran karter Kevin Nelson - along with 25 feature wins during the season to finish second in the WKA Manufacturer Trophy standings. Jones returned to the driver’s seat at the Rotax Grand Nationals to earn the Rotax Masters title while Beasley had a thrilling drive from 33rd to second in the Rotax Senior category. Victor Pedrosa led the charge for the squad in the Rotax Pan American Challenge, taking home the vice-champion honors in Rotax Senior. Arrow was also successful in the WKA Gold Cup Series with one championship (Gary Lawson) and third in the Manufacturer Trophy standings with 12 victories on the year. Arrow was impressive in the TaG categories as well at the SKUSA SuperNationals XIV, including a phenomenal drive by Australian David Sera to the runner-up position in TaG Senior.
Thanks to the satellite squads and privateers under the Arrow Racing Kart banner, such as Beasley Motorsports, Comet Kart Sales, and others, the Arrow chassis brand earned the 2010 EKN Constructors’ Championship title. Under that banner were key personal that helped guide the Arrow drivers to victories, podiums and championships. In addition to Jones, his brother (Brandon) and father (Ron) have been and still are a critical part of the operation along with some of the best wrenches in the sport - Gary Lawson, Mark Dismore Jr. and others.
While the Arrow program moved on to the KartSport North America program in August with Jones and Justin Marks at the helm, the future looks bright for the brand in the United States. eKartingNews.com would like to congratulate all those associated with BTK Motorsports/KartSport North America and all the Arrow Racing Kart drivers for an outstanding 2010 season and the Team of the Year award.
