| eKartingNews.com to Broadcast IKF Road Race Grand Nationals Live From Eagles Canyon Raceway |

The Southwest Roadrace Association (SWRA) is proud to be hosting the 2011 edition of the International Kart Federation (IKF) Road Race Grand Nationals and they have some impressive plans in the works for the annual race. The famed event will return to the Eagles Canyon Raceway - the site of the 2009 edition - outside the city of Decatur in Northern Texas, and is set for June 15-18, 2011. In addition to the official announcement of the 2011 event, the SWRA is happy to confirm their partnership with Howden Media Group and eKartingNews.com to provide full trackside coverage.
The 2011 event will feature the media outlet’s EKN LIVE program, incorporating live audio coverage in addition to their industry-leading written reporting and forum updating. A successful program at events such as the Rock Island Grand Prix and the Superkarts! USA SuperNationals XIV, EKN is extending this program to support more organizations and events for the upcoming racing season. 2011 will be the first time the action at the IKF Road Race Grand Nationals will be broadcasted live over the internet.
“Southwest Roadrace Association is happy to be hosting the 2011 IKF Road Race Grand Nationals,” stated SWRA President Jim McMillan. “Our 2009 event was a strong success and we hope to top that this coming June with the addition of the EKN LIVE to our program, among other programs we are currently working on. Our volunteer members are motivated to make this one of the best Grand Nationals in recent history.”
EKN Publisher Rob Howden will be handling the play-by-play duties of the IKF Road Race Grand Nationals, streamed live over the internet with EKN Managing Editor David Cole handling the production of the broadcast. In addition to the EKN LIVE program, the duo will provide the full EKN Trackside Live coverage that includes daily reports and official discussion thread with updates following each race.
“I’m excited to be heading back to Texas with the SWRA and the IKF Road Race Grand Nationals,” commented EKN Managing Editor David Cole. “I was trackside in ’09 for the event and the racers welcomed me with open arms as it was my first visit to the area. The racing throughout the four days was exciting and I hope that with the addition of our EKN LIVE program, we can promote the road racing genre to a number of karting enthusiasts not familiar with this specific type of racing.”
Eagles Canyon Raceway was completed in 2007. The track features a 2.55-mile circuit with 15 turns and four straights over 1,300 feet long. Though you may think the track being in Texas would not have much elevation, it actually has 70 feet of elevation changes with some extremely challenging corners. SWRA will be hosting two other events at the facility in 2011 in addition to the Grand Nationals, running on March 18-20 and September 16-18. They have been utilizing the facility for series events since 2008.
SWRA has signed VP Racing Fuels as an event sponsor and the exclusive fuel supplier for the event in addition to Red Bull, Small Business IT, MJ Drive, Dynamic Trophies, Miller & Brown LLP, Trailer Alarms, Petro Communications and Architext.
