Two Fall Nationals Complete 2011 WKA Road Racing Slate
Article by: WKA PitBoard

Nationals at New Jersey Motorsports Park and the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in the fall of next year fill the Dunlop Tire Road Racing Series driven by Mazda schedule, which will be seven races in 2011.

The series will return to New Jersey Sept. 23-25 for a Woodbridge Kart Club-hosted national. The event marks the third straight year a WKA national will be held in September at New Jersey. The 2010 New Jersey event was a doubleheader with the Manufacturer’s Cup Series; the event will be a standalone Road Racing national in 2011.

A surprise comes with a second event of the year at the popular Mid-Ohio course Oct. 28-30 to close the season. The third Dart Kart Club-hosted race of the season keeps three races in the Midwest – two at Mid-Ohio and the traditional August show at the Putnam Park Road Course in Indiana.

Next year will mark the first time a WKA national has been run in the fall months at Mid-Ohio since 1984. Since 2002 the Mid-Ohio national has been run in May or June. Next year will also be the first time the WKA national series has run the Lexington, Ohio, venue twice in the same season.

The Road Racing season opens Feb. 11-13 at Roebling Road (Ga.) Raceway. A month later the series makes its traditional stop at Kershaw, S.C.’s Carolina Motorsports Park March 11-13.

The tour heads to Mid-Ohio June 17-19 before returning south of the Mason-Dixon July 29-31 for the Grand National event at VIRginia Int’l Raceway. August 19-21 has the tour at Putnam Park before the events at New Jersey and Mid-Ohio close the year.
