WSK Master Series Round 2 Preview

The final part of this long international karting year is turning out ever more active with the WSK Master Series focusing attention on the titles at stake in the classes KZ2, KF2 and KF3, and a large number of young drivers chasing success in the class 60 Mini. The last weekend of September will be crucially important for 220 drivers coming from 35 countries in 4 continents that stake everything on the races at the circuit Val Vibrata in Sant’Egidio alla Vibrata (Teramo, Italy).

BOTH BEITSKE VISSER AND MARCO ZANCHETTA ARE KZ2 LEADERS. KZ2 arrives at Val Vibrata with two leaders levelling with each other. Since Dutch Beitske Visser (Intrepid-TM-Dunlop) and Italian Marco Zanchetta (CKR-TM-Dunlop) won respectively the Final and the Pre-final in the previous round in Siena, both are now at the top above a small group of strong opponents leaded by Simone Brenna (TB Kart-TM-Dunlop). Anything may still happen on the circuit nearby Teramo, with Campanian Francesco Celenta (intrepid-TM-Dunlop) who was very unlucky in the first round and attempting recovery now. Similarly, Alberto Cavalieri (Tony Kart-Vortex-Dunlop), Marco Pastacaldi (Birel-TM-Dunlop) and Federico Miccoli (Intrepid-TM-Dunlop) showing to be among the stronger protagonists in this early part of the championship, don’t want to miss the boat.

ANTONIO GIOVINAZZI RACES AWAY IN KF2. The situation is clearer in KF2, with Antonio Giovinazzi (Top Kart-Parilla-Vega) definitely in the lead after winning both final races in Siena. The progress of the championship is unpredictable seeing that two strong opponents like Danish Max Klinkby-Silver and English Chris Lock (both on a Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega) respectively 2nd and 3rd, intend to press at Val Vibrata. Predictions are still more difficult if we take a look at the group of drivers more down in the ranking, from Austrian Thomas Jager (Birel-BMB-Vega) and British Mitchell Gilbert (Kosmic-Vortex-Vega) that scored well, and Danish Jonas Hansen (Tony Kart-Vortex) in 6th place. Equal 7th are English Jordan King (Birel-BMB-Vega) and Alessio Costantini that along with Gianmarco Ercoli (both on Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega) and Alessio Guazzaroni (Tony Kart-TM-Vega) forms a group of pugnacious candidates for the podium.

GIULIANO NICETA AT THE TOP IN A SHORT KF3 RANKING. The completely different results of the two final races in Siena show many potential aspirants to victory. With a convincing win in the Final, Giuliano Niceta from Palermo (Tony Kart-Vortex- Dunlop) is at the top above his Romanian teammate Robert Visoiu. Their prime opponent will be Danish Nicklas Nielsen (DR-Parilla-Dunlop), winner in the Pre-final and third in the ranking. Not to forget Stefano Villa Zanotti (Tony Kart-Vortex-Dunlop) and Mattia Vita (DR-Parilla-Dunlop) performing an excellent Final in Siena and respectively 4th and 5th above Russian Egor Stupenkov (Gillard-Parilla-Dunlop).

ROBERT SHWARTZMAN, LITTLE LEADER IN 60 MINI. The 70 kids in the 60 Mini are showing so much competitiveness that the races are really exciting. Russian Robert Shwartzman (Lenzo-LKE-Vega) is the living proof of it since after catching up with at least 10 drivers that could shoot for victory, he was successful in the first round and now is the ranking leader. His countryman Nikita Sitnikov (Birel-LKE-Vega) signals his intention to recover from his second place and so does Romanian Andrei Atanasiu (Lenzo-LKE-Vega) in third position. Also Angelo Giannone (CRG-LKE-Vega) and Alessio Lorandi are ready to join the fray at Val Vibrata, to move up from 4th and 5th above Russian Alexander Zhirkov (Birel-LKE-Vega).
