SUNDAY, JULY 11

The final day of action went into the books for the running of the WKA Zoom Zoom Nationals. Another great day of weather early on led to a chance of rain at the end of the day, coming down as the action was complete and the competitors were packing up to head home from the Briggs & Stratton Motorplex in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. With 10 Grand National Eagles were awarded on Saturday, 10 more were earned on the track Sunday with a number of drivers taking home a pair each. Junior driver Sam Beasley was the big winner, scoring two on Saturday and third Eagle on Sunday while Tommy Andersen, Ryan Stewart, Patrick Olsen, Austin Osborne and Grant Quinlan doubled up in wins.

SATURDAY, JULY 10

The opening day of racing at the WKA Zoom Zoom Nationals at the famed Road America facility was completed under sunny skies for most of the day until rain came through the area at the end of the day. Fortunately for the Manufacturer’s Cup Series at the Briggs & Stratton Motorplex, all events were completed before the skies opened up. For the Road Racing Series, the final race of the day was called for rain. Today on the sprint track, 10 classes competed for the coveted WKA Eagle with the event labeled as the 2010 Grand Nationals. Competitors were under the scope today as the officials cracked down, both on the track and in the tech barn.

FRIDAY, JULY 9

This weekend marks the return of the WKA Zoom Zoom Nationals to the famed Road American facility in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. The WKA George Kugler/Bridgestone Manufacturer’s Cup Series and the WKA Dunlop Tire Road Racing Series will compete at the same venue for the second time this season. Round three of the Manufacturer’s Cup program will utilize the Briggs & Stratton Motorplex kart track, while the Road Racers will navigate the historic 4-mile road course for round five of their 2010 season. It should be an interesting weekend for sure, especially considering the latest issues regarding the recent suspension of six trustees, although every competitor in both paddocks will likely be looking forward to getting back to the real reason that everyone will be in Wisconsin this weekend, which is to race and enjoy their time with friends and family.
