THE WSK TITLES ARE STILL AT STAKE. When everything seems to be predictable, the WSK karting is able to upset amazingly the rankings: at the WSK Euro Series in Genk, Belgium, the fourth and last round but one didn’t reveal yet the champions, except for Italian Paolo De Conto (Energy-TM-Dunlop) that gained KZ2 title. The coming June 6th therefore, in Sarno, Italy, it will be given the titles in the remaining four classes seeing that the rankings underwent unexpected and deep changes after the completely unpredictable races at the Horensbergdam Circuit.

DE VRIES, FIRST WIN IN SKF AND RECOVERY IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP. With a resounding victory in Super KF, the fast and small-bodied fifteen-year-old driver Dutch Nick De Vries (Zanardi-Parilla-Vega) compensated for few daunting troubles forcing him to move down to 7th during the race. In the Final, French Armand Convers (Kosmic-Vortex-Vega) aiming to definitely strengthen his leadership in the ranking, was in the lead for long to give in later to De Vries’ powerful recovery. The Dutch driver took the lead when on his back, an unexpected battle was starting and it was just Covers to come off worst, being relegated to 7th due to an off-track. Marco Ardigò (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega) instead, kept firmly the second position he already had for long when was behind the French driver. A very excellent performance also for Sauro Cesetti that in the last hectic racing moments was clever at seizing the right moment to come third. In the ranking therefore, Convers is still at the top but his lead has been decreased to 23 points over De Vries and 41 over Ardigò. With 68 points still to be given in Sarno, the concluding event promises to make sparks fly.

THONON GAINS BACK KZ1 LEADERSHIP. Belgian Jonathan Thonon (CRG-Maxter-Dunlop) repeated with ease the win in the Pre-final with a new success in the Final, ahead of his good countryman Rick Dreezen (Tony Kart-Vortex-Dunlop). Dutch Bas Lammers (Intrepid-TM-Dunlop) instead, failed to perform well in the Final and in a heated phase, he lost not only the second place he got behind Thonon but also the leadership in the ranking. Another Dutch, Jorrit Pex, (CRG-TM-Dunlop) performed well and mounted a deserved podium.

2010 WSK FIRST CHAMPION DE CONTO GOT THE TITLE IN KZ2. In the same race as the upper class, the separate ranking for KZ2 records Dutch Yard Pex (CRG-Maxter-Dunlop) achieving victory over his blonde countrywoman Beitske Visser (Intrepid-TM-Dunlop). Nevertheless, Paolo De Conto from Treviso (Energy-TM-Dunlop), coming third after a win in the Pre-final, was successful in winning his class title beforehand.

D’AGOSTO, CLOSER TO KF2 WIN. Italian Ignazio D’Agosto took one leap forward in the chase for KF2 crown to achieve in Sarno as well. In the Pre-final and Final, the deserving winner was Danish Jakob Nortoft (FA Kart-Vortex-Vega) whereas D’Agosto catching up several positions finished second ahead of Polish Karol Basz (RK-BMB-Vega). This way, D’Agosto can see the title getting closer seeing that he has well 49-point lead over Nortoft against the only 65 points still to be given.

VERSTAPPEN HEADS FOR KF3 WIN. Also in KF3, a double win in the final races keeps the chase for the title still open: in that case, the performer was English Alex Albon (Intrepid-TM-Dunlop), now in pursuit of Dutch Max Verstapppen (CRG-Maxter-Dunlop). The latter, achieving a second place in Genk, can already see the win within his grasp. On the contrary, his countryman Peter Hoevenaars (Intrepid-TM-Dunlop) ranking third, is out of the running for the title.
