Departing from a snow and ice storm last week in Kansas, Broc Yocom headed to Miami to kick-off the 2010 season.
The first part of the weekend went as planned with engine break-ins and testing; but Saturday morning the 14-year-old awoke with a high fever, resulting in a long and painful day. He struggled through the practice, qualifying, heat race and 20-lap final, and ended up with a surprising 5th place finish. Sunday he was feeling better, but pulled a 6th place result after an over-heating engine slowed his progress.
Disappointed but not out, Yocom believes he has his work cut out for him and stated his efforts this past weekend could not be 100%. However, he’s looking forward to more progress in the upcoming months and of course, the warmer winter weather Miami has to offer. Broc would like to thank Russell Karting Specialties, IAME, Tillotson USA and Leading Edge Motorsports for their amazing support throughout the Florida Cup.
