Alonso Kart USA makes its long-awaited return to the track this week as the team heads South from Indianapolis to the US Rotax Grand Nationals at Oklahoma Motorsports Complex in Norman, Oklahoma. Five team drivers will represent FA Kart, racing across four of the six Official Rotax Max Challenge Classes. Andrew Hawkins, Dore Chaponick Jr., Derek Sobel, Cole Glasson and Devlin DeFrancesco will see duty, Sobel, Glasson and DeFrancesco looking for a National Championship while Chaponick and Hawkins vie for spots on Team USA.

It will be the second National of the season for Chaponick and DeFrancesco, as the pair was joined by FA Kart driver Jack West in early August competing in the Canadian National Championships. DeFrancesco scooped the National Micro-Max title in his native land, while West and Chaponick finished third and fourth in Rotax Mini-Max. The pair was threats every time they took the track, and in drying conditions in a Sunday morning prefinal moved to prime position when they crossed second and third. West held onto a podium spot in the final with Chaponick right behind in fourth.

Official Practice for the 2009 US Grands begins Wednesday with qualifying and heat one scheduled for Thursday. Friday will bring heats two and three before required Last-Chance-Qualifiers and the national prefinal and final will run Saturday. If the US Summer Shootout provides any indication, FA Kart drivers with Supertune engines should be in the thick of the hunt. Hawkins and Chaponick each recorded a pole position earlier in the summer and were joined by DeFrancesco when each of the trio set a race fast-lap for Supertune. DeFrancesco and Chaponick both climbed the podium, and all will be looking to get there later this week.

Alonso Kart USA is the total package when it comes to racing teams. With more than 30 years combined experience in motorsports, Alonso Kart USA is poised to change the face of karting in North America. The team is headed by legendary karter and race driver Bobby Wilson and based out of the motorsports capital of the World - Indianapolis. Alonso Kart USA competes in national events in Canada and the USA, and is the North American distributor for the Alonso Kart chassis and the North American partner for Supertune Rotax Racing Engines.
