New features for 2009 include 25mm spindles with interchangeable stub arms for added turnability. Birel's already popular "Banana" brake system received an upgrade to a cast-iron rotor that greatly improved consistency of the brake system over a long run. Briggs and Stratton - Local Option 206 Engine
Briggs and Stratton Racing has been a long supporter and supplier for karting in America. Their new engine line - the Local Option 206 - is focused at the entry-level and club karters. The crate engine is designed to reduce the lead-time and cost to race by providing an out of the box, hand-built racing engine. Built from the heart of an Animal racing engine, the Local Option 206 focuses on limiting engine variables, including ground cam, piston pop-up, PVL Digital ignition to remove RPM and spring variances, and a sealed short block to limit engine access and simplify the tech process. Local Option 206 owners also have the option to advance up the karting ladder by purchasing an Amimal upgrade kit once they feel the need for more speed.
