SUNDAY, MARCH 8
The opening round of the Snap-on Stars of Karting Eastern Division program ended Sunday with a successful weekend completed at the Ocala Gran Prix in Ocala, Florida. A picture perfect weekend of weather and no red flag incidents throughout the three days on track made for great event. The intensity picked up on track in the final day with drivers making their final moves toward the front. A number of competitors picked up their first Stars victory on the day with others adding to their CVs.

SATURDAY, MARCH 7
The first wheel-to-wheel action of the ’09 Snap-on Stars of Karting season took to the track at Ocala Gran Prix Raceway today and while the fields were lighter than in year’s past, the racing was extremely good. The weather was also cooperating with the program as clear skies and temperatures in the 80s kept everyone hot, including the action on track.

FRIDAY, MARCH 6
The first official day of the 2009 Snap-on Stars of Karting season is now in the books as the Friday action at the Ocala Gran Prix in Ocala, Florida was completed with a full day of practice, wrapping up with qualifying sessions for all seven divisions. Bright sunshine and clear skies greeted the opening day as the first round of the Eastern Division began to take shape. The day saw the first official sessions of the KF program in Stars competition, along with the debut of the new Leopard-only Senior and Junior National classes. In the end, Canadian Michael Vincec began his defense of the KZ2 title by earning the pole position, while Phil DeLaO snagged both honors in the Junior divisions.

The Snap-on Stars of Karting will begin its 10th season this weekend as the Eastern Division schedule starts off the year at the Ocala Gran Prix facility in Ocala, Florida. From its beginnings in 2000, the Stars program has slowly grown into the top echelon of the karting scene in North America both in terms of the driver pool and the on-track staff putting on the events. The Ocala event will mark the start of an eight month journey toward crowning the seven national champions at the Stars National Finals in October at the Oklahoma Motorsports Complex.

Excitement Mounts for 2009 Stars of Karting Season Opener
The Snap-on Stars of Karting Series is set to open the 2009 national championship series this coming weekend in Ocala, Florida. Racing at the Ocala Gran Prix facility, on track action will be fierce and competitive as the short layout will provide for some excellent wheel to wheel action. With multiple changes taking place in the off season, the new look Stars of Karting program will be the foundation of karting for years to come as the series looks to generate some stability within the sport.

Wheldon to Compete at Stars of Karting Eastern Division Opener
eKartingNews.com has learned that 2005 IndyCar champion and Indy 500 winner Dan Wheldon will compete at the Snap-on Stars of Karting Eastern Division opener this weekend at the Ocala Gran Prix facility in Ocala, Florida. The Panther Racing - National Guard driver will return to the seat of a kart after having competed at the SuperNationals in Las Vegas and the PRI All-Stars Karting Classic in 2008. Wheldon will be back working with Kartel Motorsports as he did at the Vegas event.
