Assembled at the headquarters of the FIA in Paris on 11 November 2008 following the positive analysis of an anti-doping control carried out during the CIK-FIA World Cup for KF2 at La Conca (I) on 20 September 2008, the Stewards of the Meeting for that event heard the Italian driver Flavio Camponeschi, the winner of the race.

Traces of a product featuring on the ‘Prohibited List’ published by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) had been detected in the urine sample provided by the driver concerned. The Panel of Stewards decided to exclude him from the final classification and suspend his licence for the next 6 months.

As a reminder, the CIK-FIA (Commission Internationale de Karting-FIA), with the help of the FIA Institute and WADA, conducted a broad doping awareness and prevention campaign called ‘Race True’ during the 2006 season. In 2007 and 2008, within the framework of the CIK-FIA Karting Championships, 30 drivers were tested, including six outside competition. Only one test yielded a positive result.

A new classification of the event has therefore been drawn up, subject to appeal by the driver concerned. Britain’s Oliver Rowland (Tony Kart-Vortex-Dunlop) is declared the winner of the 2008 CIK-FIA World Cup for KF2, ahead of the Czech Zdenek Groman (Maranello-Parilla-Dunlop) and Frenchman Loïc Réguillon (Sodi-Parilla-Dunlop).
