SUNDAY, AUGUST 31
It was a record breaking day at the 2008 running of the Rock Island Grand Prix in the streets of the southwestern city of the Quad Cities along the might Mississippi River. A picture perfect weekend of weather for the first time a the last few years greeted the 275 entries on the weekend. The 6/10-mile street circuit saw many newcomers come to the six-turn course and find success and veterans of the event continued their reign as the leaders of the Rock.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 30
The first day of action is in the books at the 14th annual Rock Island Grand Prix in Rock Island, Illinois. The weather was ‘Chamber of Commerce’ perfect for the day of practice and qualifying for the 14 classes on the docket for the event. Numerous drivers smacked the barriers as they were presented with two sessions of practice and timed qualifying, given the opportunity to lay down rubber around the 6/10-mile street circuit. Throughout the day, many newcomers were among the fast drivers, setting up for the starting grids for Sunday’s main events.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 29
The Rock Island Grand Prix presented by AT&T and Mazda, the world’s largest karting street race, will run their 14th edition of their traditional Labor Day weekend event in the southwest portion of the Quad Cities along the Mississippi River. Come Friday evening around 5pm, the streets of Rock Island, IL become the racing course over a 12-hour period thanks to the countless volunteers of the RIGP to prepare for an amazing two-day event that will include 14 different classes with everyone battling for a piece of the Rock and the nearly $35,000 total purse.
