Tri-C Karters Announce Return to Auto Club Speedway for Karting Event

Tri-C Karters is proud to announce the return of a very popular event that has been absent from the karting calendar for a few years now. From 2003 to 2006, the organization hosted the King Taco Open event at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California. The event drew in over 300 competitors year after year, with an assorted range of classes offered from Kid Karts to Superkarts. This coming June 14-16, 2013, the event will make a triumph return now know as the Tri-C Grand Prix.

The circuit for the 2013 Tri-C Grand Prix has been developed specifically for the event, measuring out to roughly 1.91 miles and features 21 turns with an over 2000ft straightaway. “This is an incredibly fun track to drive, commented Tri-C President Eric Nelson after testing the final layout. “The course will put a premium on drafting and combined with a technical back section, it will offer multiple passing opportunities. Spectator areas will be plentiful, with access to the infield grass for viewing the majority of the track. I could really get hooked on this type of course and I hope everyone comes out to join the fun this June.”

The Tri-C Grand Prix will provide an exciting mid season break from the regular club schedules while offer the opportunity to compete at such a unique venue. The class structure includes all of the popular sprint classes, in addition to the famed Open Class and 250cc Superkarts. Race groups have been designed to give an hour of track time to each group, including practice, qualifying, heat race and main event both days. Additional classes will be assigned at a later date to the current class structure published on the event website based upon interest and input from the karting community.

With the goal of attracting everyone in the karting community, costs have been kept as low as possible, including early pre-entry rates: $125 for first class, $75 for second class, $75 Friday practice and $40 weekend RV spots with hook ups. Garage spaces and premium pit spaces will also be available. Garages, pit spots and RV pads will be assigned on a first come / first served basis with registration opening January 1, 2013.

A new website has been created specifically for the event - http://www.tcgp.net - where you can view the track map, view the course test video, and sign up for Tri-C Karters email newsletter to receive all the latest information on the Tri-C Grand Prix. Tri-C Karters is Southern California's Official United States Rotax Max Challenge Series and holds monthly sprint races at the CalSpeed Karting facility just outside the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, CA.
